Student Nationals

The National Student Roleplaying and Wargaming Championships, affectionately known by those that attend as the Student Nationals, are the largest event on the calendar for any university game society. The championship is always held by the previous winners (or, if they can’t host it, some other poor bastards). It’s always a lot of fun, and we have placed in the top five societies for the last three years, so here’s hoping we win it next time!

2011 Nationals

The 2011 Nationals, held by Sheffield, saw us come in third (for the third year running), behind Cardiff and the Hussars. For a while we were actually in first place, which was vaguely terrifying! The Sabres who placed to get us to that terrific position are listed below (handily, they’re actually on the Nationals forum, which is a big improvement on the lack of information from previous years). Congratulations to everyone who placed, and let’s do it all again next year!

Robin: 1st place, Action and Adventure
Pirate Tom: 2nd place, Homebrew
Hannah: 1st place, Humour
Alex S: 2nd place, Victoriana

Mike I: 2nd place, Conflict Board Games
Graham: 3rd place, Team Board Games

2010 Nationals

The 2010 Nationals, held in Edinburgh by Heriot Watt, saw the Sabres come in third (again!) behind Sheffield and VAGUE, an honourable placement indeed. Since these results haven’t been posted up by the Heriot Watt team, if you did place at the Nationals and you aren’t listed here, please get in touch with John and let him know!

Mark: 2nd place, AD&D
Liz: 2nd place, True Random
Shannon: 2nd place, World of Darkness
Ben: 3rd place, World of Darkness

Andrew: 3rd place, Battlefleet Gothic
Fletch: 1st place, Warmachine

Nicola: Best individual, fancy dress competition
